My First Christmas

Boy, Christmas is a lot of fun! So much happened over the last week. Mommy and Daddy decided to leave Friday night to head to Grammy and Pop's house, since I hate to ride in the car, they figured why not drive while I'm sleeping and I'll never know I went anywhere. (It was a great idea) When we got there Uncle Kyle, Aunt Caroline and Hunter were asleep so I didn't get to play with them until the next morning. Grammy and Pop had a train that went around their Christmas tree and it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen! It whistled and blew smoke too! Pop would sit on the floor with me and when it disappeared I'd crawl around to find it, I didn't want to miss a thing! On Christmas Eve we went into town to see Great and I got to meet my cousins Olivia and Zeke, they were so much fun, but I got a little jealous when Daddy tried to hold Zeke and me together. I had the best time crawling after Olivia, she was so much fun to play with. She would call me "Christmas-pher" but I didn't mind. Then we went to the Christmas Eve Service at church and I got to watch people play the handbells and listen to everyone sing songs. It was great, but I was so tired after all of that I slept the whole way home. Aunt Jenny came and stayed with us that night and THEN it was Christmas morning and that was definitely fun! I got to open the first present and it was a rocking horse just for me! I loved it! I started to get tired after a while and had to go take a nap, but Mommy and Daddy opened the presents I was too tired to open. I got some really cool toys and books and had a blast playing with them when I woke up. Daddy couldn't believe how quickly I caught on with some of them. Oh! Something else that is big is that I said my first word, "Da-Da," and I learned to wave. Mommy was a little jealous, but her name is just so hard to say right now. My cousin Hunter learned to roll over during Christmas too, so it was a holiday of firsts for everyone! When we got back home I learned to say "bye-bye" while riding around in Wal-Mart with Mommy and she thought it was cute too. I can't wait until next year!!!

This past weekend we went to visit our family in Georgia. First we started at Ame, Drexel and Cameron's house on Saturday. We had so much fun watching the two kids play together now that Christopher is crawling around and learning to hold his own. Sunday morning we let them open their gifts to each other and poor Christopher woke up really early and so he was too tired to enjoy it! We were so excited that Cameron liked what we got her and it was fun watching her try to keep Christopher out of her new playhouse. That afternoon we headed to the annual Kirby Christmas party and the babies were a huge hit! They were worn out by the time we left and Christopher slept all the way to Cameron's house and to Montgomery, where we then opened our gifts from Mimi and Papa John. This time he had a little more fun with the gifts (guess a nap helps everyone out). We put him to bed late and the next morning he was up and ready to play again. He did great in the car (not AGAIN!) until we stopped in Birmingham and he had had enough at that point. The worst part was his new favorite toy was in the seat next to him and he couldn't reach it. So we had to put all toys up front and Brittny sat in the back with him and then he finally crashed again. Little does he know that he only experienced HALF of his Christmas! We'll do it all again next weekend!

I'll play anywhere

The other day I was bored and thought I'd find a new place to play for a little while. So, I found my pacifier clip next to my exersaucer and decided to crawl inside. I'd played on top of the exersaucer many, many times and thought I'd see what it was like underneath. I had so much fun under there flinging my clip around! It made the funniest noises! After several minutes I thought I'd get out, but I couldn't figure out how I got in there so Mommy had to come and help me. I've gone back a few more times, but figured out how to play without having to go all the way under the seat.

I am so excited that Christmas is coming!!!! I'm not sure what it is, but I'm excited about it! The other day Mommy pulled out a tree that I didn't even know we had and put it up... in our house!!! But she didn't stop there, then she put these little white lights on it. I was so happy that I couldn't stop squealing! And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, she pulled out strings of red beads to put on it too! I tried to help her out by tasting them first, but they all ended up on the tree so I guess they were good to go. Next she put it up on something so she could put something called ornaments on it and so I couldn't take them off. Daddy told me that I could play with those next year. Something about hooks and sharp edges that I couldn't play with. Finally she put some boxes wrapped in bright paper out, but I can't quite reach those either. Every now and then I can get one down, but Mommy and Daddy put it right back out of my reach. They said I can open it one day soon, I can't wait until that day!!

Giving thanks

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. It was my first and I was so excited I could barely sleep! We went to Mimi and Papa John's house and the whole family came. It was fun to see Cameron, she was running all over the place, but she better watch out because I'll be up and running after her before she knows it. The weather was great so we got to play outside while the turkey was being fried and then after everyone had lunch I went to take a nap, but woke up just in time for the after dinner walk. I was so exhausted from all the excitement that I just crashed after my final bottle that night. Boy, what a great day! I can't wait until next year!!
