I hate it.
It sucks you in and before you know it you have completely wasted time you could have spent doing something else. Anything else. Like watching a movie or reading a book or going to sleep.
I hate it b/c I feel like the whole world can read every conversation I have with someone. Not that I say anything important or private, but I feel like it has gone even farther away from the "personal touch" than ever before. Now, you are probably thinking, well, you blog and you email and you have some sort of iPod don't you? The answer is yes to all of those. BUT the blog is how I scrapbook and keep family and friends up to date on what is happening in our lives. Email is how I keep from calling you at 2 a.m. b/c I just remembered what I wanted to ask/tell you at 2 p.m., but forgot. And my kids play with the iPod, not me. It keeps them quiet, unless they are fighting over who is playing with it.
Yes, I have a FB account and I've used it more in the last 6 weeks than I have since I started it 6 years ago, but that's b/c it was the only way to get in touch with some people I needed to talk to and right now it's the best way to stay in touch with Brandon while he's gone. But when he gets back I'm going to be going back to my old ways again. It's just too overwhelming for me. I don't know how the rest of you do it.
My next question is why? We can call each other. We can email each other. We can catch up on a blog to see how your kids are doing. Why do we need one more way to contact each other? Nobody has this much time, do you? I know I'm alone in my feelings, but if you have noticed my activity picking up on FB it's about to change. I just can't keep it up. Too exhausting! I'm stepping off my soapbox now.
Not that any stuck around to listen anyway.
But I'm ok with that.
I thought I was the only person in the world who does not have a FB account. So many people have tried to get me to join and I made the decision a long time ago not to do it. I have too many idols in my life as it is that I am trying to rid myself of - and computer is one of them. I blog all the time, but like you, it's my scrapbook. I don't have a baby scrapbook on paper. I could argue both sides, and certainly do not condemn anyone who has an account. It's just not for me - and I am okay with that. I am also okay with anyone who has an account! Kind of glad to know that I am not alone though :)

Agreed! Facebook is the #1 time-waster, I think too. Am I a hypocrite for saying this when I have an account? I'm sorry! I'm a new blog reader & fan of your blog. I'm loving it already...Your kids are adorable! Hope you're having a great weekend!

I canceled my account about a month ago and am so glad I did. I would get sucked in reading stuff that totally did not matter. Now, I use that time to be much more productive whether I am cleaning or having me time. FB just makes it that much easier to be impersonal in my opinion.

I stuck around and I agree. I use it to send messages and make sure I spend LESS THAN 5 MINUTES A DAY reading stuff. It's the only way you can do it.

Girl- FB is not bad. You can use it as little or as much as you want. I don't spend much time on it, but I don't fault those that do.
It's just fun. Not everyone has a blog, so this is my way to catch up with them like I do on your blog.
Don't leave. Just limit youself.

all it boils down to is that it's ONE MORE thing i have to check out. i like having everything in one place when i need to get in touch with people. it's just overwhelming to me when i get on there and i don't have the time to clean it up.

I need to cut back. I find myself making excuses about not having time to do the laundry and load the dishwasher, yet I had the time to look at my friend that I haven't seen since 2nd grade's beach trip pics. Total time killer. And I lol-ed at the Starnes Family comment above. SO TRUE!
